10.5 5.35pm. Speedygeese. 2.5k warm-up. 20-minute tempo using the 275m Rose Gardens east side loop (steady). Extra warm-down to lake and back with Craig and Peter (8k total, ave HR 127). Grey Frees. Good to have Cookie back. Felt better as the session went on. Hot, 31°C; breezy. [M]

Goal: 5k in 21 minutes, 13 seconds. Failed - my fastest 5k was 22:41 at Stromlo.

Races: 3000m in 13:24.52, 5000m in 23:07.27, 5k road in 22:46 (Canberra Marathon Eve), Fadden Pines 2.5k in 11:41, Dunrossil Drive 4.2k in 18:48, City to Surf 14k in 69:39, Blackmores Half Marathon in 1:52:23.

Numbers: I ran 2,554 kilometres, an average of 49.1 per week. There were 103 days when I didn't run - therein lies a problem.

Other words: A year with some health/injury issues (arm DVT in May then hamstring and calf injuries towards the end of the year). In view of this, happy with my race results mentioned above.

My maximum heart-rate is about 161. The highest I recorded in 2013 was 161 at the Parkrun on 21 December. Height 1868mm (23 May).
