Ewen's Running Diary - 1990

This page is my running diary from 1990, the year I turned 33. In September I joined Geoff Moore's group and Geoff began coaching me in October, 2 weeks before the Canberra Times 10k. There were 49 days when I didn't run. I ran 4,230 km - an average of just over 81 km per week.

My best results during 1993 were: 800m - 2:20.5, 1500m - 4:52.0, 3000m - 10:27.6, 5000m - 17:51.0, 2k Steeplechase - 7:20.4, 3k Steeplechase - 12:07.2, Mile - 5:09.5, 5k road - 18:52, 10k road - 36:55, 15k road - 58:47, Half Marathon - 83:06, 12k Cross Country - 48:27, City to Surf 14k - 55:21.

Week 02 49k - Thought the 3000m race would be faster! Weight 74.0kg.

19 7.00am. Stromlo with Ian Leves and David Gates. Ran over to Bluett's Pines and back in 85 minutes. Tough last 20 minutes. Fairly good pace with re-groups for David who was taking it easy. Felt OK.

8 6.00pm. Race: CCC - Summer Series Lotus Bay 4k - 31st in 15:18 (3:49/km). Didn't feel great warming up. Tough rough course with small hills and sharp turns. Beat David in a sprint finish. Good run. Martin Lyons 12:26 and Michelle O'Rourke 14:44. Charlie 15:33.

4.30pm. Central Basin LBG. Steady pace. Right knee quite sore during the run.
Week 06 76k - Getting there in the 1500m race. Weight 74.0kg.

Week 11 88k - Tough week. OK 6k race, slow half marathon. Weight 74.0kg.

Headwind up the back straight, strong effort, good race with a Weston Creek runner second lap. Right decision to rest yesterday. Now back to good training!
